Hastingleigh Parish Council needs YOU!

  1. Become a Parish Councillor and make a difference to your local community
  2. Nominations close 4th April, elections take place in May

Do you have up to 10 hours a year you could give to the Community? Do you have opinions on planning and what happens to your Village? Do you care about what should happen in your local area and how taxpayers’ money should be spent? Have you got ideas on how to make our great community even better? Could you volunteer your time for meetings and to make things happen?

If you answered yes to even one of the questions above then you could be exactly who we, your local Parish Council, are looking for!

Elections for new councillors are being held in May of this year. There are a few qualifying criteria, including being 18 or over and living or working within 3 miles of the parish boundary (see QR Code) but the main thing to remember is absolutely no experience is required.

All councillors must stand for election every 4 years, meaning now is the perfect chance to get involved.

If you’re not familiar with our work, Parish Councils, also known as local councils, are the first tier of governance in England, Wales and Scotland and the first point of contact for anyone concerned with a community issue.

Parish Councils have a range of powers, including planning and maintaining green areas. They also have the power to raise money through council tax.

Parish Councillors are unpaid volunteers, who give up their time for the good of the community, attending meetings, representing residents’ views and getting involved in local initiatives.

Please contact the Clerk if you are interested in standing as a Councillor.
